Fun fact: Folks marvel at the fact that Top Fuel dragsters can accelerate at over 1G, which seems impossible because of the limitations of gravity and coefficients of friction. Many attribute the immense traction to downforce (of which there isn’t any at 0 speed) or exhaust pressure (which probably does contribute), but the straight shit, from the mouth of a GY engineer, is that tire wrinkle is where all the action happens. The force of the tire slamming into the ground as it deforms and reforms adds to the traction provided by gravity. (As a fun aside, it also heats the carcass up to full operating temp in only a couple of revolutions. The burnouts are for fun and cleaning the tires.)
